My City: Kamakura
Calm waves, breathtaking sunset, and myriads of archaic buildings... As soon as you get off the train, all you can sense is the smell of the salt from the ocean brought by the wind. There is a town that never forgets to impress every single person who comes to visit: Kamakura. Kamakura is located in the coastal area of Kanagawa Prefecture and has been recognized as one of the tourist traps in Japan. It is mostly known for its temples, beaches, Enoden, and the Great Buddha. Even as a citizen of Kamakura, I find my town intriguing because its beauty is hidden everywhere. As I grow older, the way I see the town and the surroundings alter into the much greater view—I am convinced that this goes to all the visitors as well. What I like about Kamakura is that the fact that—although it may sound ordinary—it has the face that only the residents know.
